Greenbelt & Peter Tatchell
What do you think about the fact that the homosexual activist Peter Tatchell was invited to the Greenbelt festival this year to speak about “the struggle for queer freedom in Africa”?
Here’s a little about Mr Tatchell’s background to set the scene:
· He is well known for his view that the age of consent should be lowered to 14 for homosexuals. On his website he states that if children under 14 have consensual sex, and if there is no greater than a three year age differential, there should not be a prosecution.
· He is also a strong promoter of pornography which he says is good for everyone. He has previously written approvingly of sadomasochism, bondage, infidelity, orgies and public cruising for sex. [“Safer Sexy: The Guide to Gay Sex Safely”]
· He was prosecuted for disrupting the 1998 Easter Sermon at Canterbury
Were you there this year, and did you hear what he had to say? If so please do comment below.
Do you believe that the organisers of Greenbelt over stepped the mark in trying to be quite so culturally relevant? If so please use one of the ways of contact listed below to make the point.
Or am I making something from nothing (thought only God could do that…)? Please comment, it’s good to debate.
